Chapter 1: RED BUTTE

It was in September 1998, a few weeks before we went to Mt. Shasta for a weekend, that I first got the message from Spirit that we were to create a Merkaba (a particular kind of Light Field) around the mountain. I did not know at the time that it would actually be the culmination of many adventures. Of course, to create the Merkaba we needed to be physically in place, which meant we’d have to hike to the top, a feat we had accomplished a few years earlier, after which I had decided that once in my lifetime was absolutely enough. The 7000-foot climb to the peak at over 14,000 feet had been hard enough, but the steep descent was even harder because of how my knees had suffered.

So I didn’t really take the message all that seriously at the time, casually mentioning it to Omaran one day. He, however, jumped on it excitedly, assuming that I would climb it again. I told him that I didn’t think so, but we would see (hoping he would forget about it). He never believed me, and started telling people that we were going to do it the next summer.

On this weekend camping trip, we decided to hike to an upper meadow, a place we had never been. It looked like an easy hike for us, not too steep, while we were fasting. As we walked above the treeline and over a pass, I got a very clear image that before hiking to the peak (if we did), we were to create several smaller Merkabas around the mountain, in preparation. Now that seemed doable, though I didn’t know exactly where they would be placed. I assumed we would be led when the time was right.

We stopped at a cute little spring, where we took a sip straight out of the ground, some of the best tasting water I’ve ever had, as if it was the exact composition my body needed. Red Butte loomed ahead, too steep to climb without ropes and all that serious climbing gear. It was quite impressive, and aptly named because the rocks had a reddish color to them. As we hiked past the butte, some birds on the top caught our attention when they started making a lot of noise. We could barely see them flitting around up there from where we were, and we stopped to try and make out what kind of birds they were.

I said, "Sounds like they are calling us up there!" I didn’t really think we would follow, given the steepness of the climb, but it was an interesting thought.

"Let’s go!" was Omaran’s retort.

"What, now??"

"Sure, see that swale there? Looks like we could get up there. It’s steep but I bet we could make it."

Sure enough, the birds were pointing out probably the only place along the rock wall that could be climbed. How could we ignore such an invitation? We abandoned our plans and left the trail to make our way up the volcanic rocks. Even though we weren’t eating, we both felt good and had plenty of strength.

We emerged in the central valley of the volcano, and felt like we were on another planet. The lay of the land, with its piles of rocks and flat sandy areas in-between, drew us into exploring. We hiked around the whole top, watching the birds eat pine cones, finding old, twisted bristlecone pines whose ages of thousands of years stretched our imaginations in wonder. The whole place was absolutely magical.

By this time we knew that this was the place for the first Merkaba around the base of Mt. Shasta. When we had explored as much as we could and still get back before dark, we went up to the peak. This would be the biggest Light Field we had ever created, encompassing the entire hill and surrounding areas, and extending up the flank of the mountain. We had to take a few minutes to visualize it before going through the process together. It was powerful.

I asked for my body to be used as a conduit for Light, and a huge current of energy, like a bolt of lightening, released upward out of the peak, through my system and out the top of my head. Then another bolt struck from above and was anchored through my grounding cord into the rocks. I knew, as always, that I wouldn’t take on more than I could easily handle, though it was mighty intense, so I just let it happen and was glad to be of service. We sat for a while on the peak (it wasn’t exactly comfortable on those rocks), then hiked the long way back to the truck.

Back at the camp that night, we were sitting and talking by the campfire at dusk when it started to lightly sprinkle. We got up to cover some things, and just when we turned around we saw it and gasped. There was a striking rainbow, dominantly pink in color, right where we had created the Merkaba, and about the same size! It was like seeing the Light Field itself. We knew that the Masters had a hand in that, and we were joyous for the acknowledgment of our success. Later that evening, St. Germain paid us a visit in spirit, confirming what we had accomplished, and just after he said his closing words, the good-sized fire went out, as if he had blown it out for dramatic effect! It was suddenly very dark, and we both opened our eyes in surprise. We laughed. We do love those special effects!

I noticed over the next few weeks that the current I had allowed through me opened something in my head, allowing a greater flow of Light, and I walked around in bliss much of the time. Omaran also seemed more connected, though not as affected as I was. Almost as soon as we got back home, the next site to create a Merkaba started calling us, this one destined to affect Omaran in a big way: Black Butte. (See Chapter 2)
